Tuesday, May 19, 2020 (updated 11:37 am) It is Terrific Tuesday! You are all rocking it with your hard work. Breaking news . . . as a school we read 65,412,102 words this year! Isn't that awesome? We more than likely read a lot more than that since we still read a lot of books that are not Reading Counts books. As a class we read 4,896,820 words!!! Our class passed 1,059 quizzes! This is cause for celebration! I have never had a class that did this much reading. I am so proud of each and every one of you! I would also like to congratulate the people that earned the Reading Counts 100 Point Party: Liam, Channing, Melissa, Jordan, Mackenzie, Saydi, and Julia. I would also like to congratulate Brody and Michayla for earning the Reading Counts 200 Point Party. The parties will of course be virtual, I have posted the information for the parties on our TEAMS page, I will also send out an email to you parents.
Since we are talking about celebrations, I also want to congratulate Brody and Michayla for earning their Reading Counts plaque. Brody earned 262 points and Michayla earned 334 points. Mrs. Anderson made a video of all of the students that earned their plaque and the congratulatory introductory message is by music SUPERSTAR and co-host of American Idol - LUKE BRYAN! Check out the video below! Congratulations to all of our Rocket Readers! #RocketReaders #KeepReading #LetsCelebrate |

Friday, May 15, 2020 It is Friday! Everyone do a happy dance! You have made it through week 4 of Phase 2 Distance Learning. I know that at times this has been rough, I am very proud of you for hanging in there with me. Keep up the great work, we are in the homestretch! Remember that you can go back and redo any assignments from weeks 1-3 if you would like for an improved score. If you do any retakes from those weeks, you will need to send me an email so I can back and check your score and then update our gradebook in Vportal. If you want to retake anything from this week, you have until Sunday evening because I enter grades on Monday mornings. If you have any questions you can reach out to me on TEAMS or send me an email. Remember that I am available every morning from 8:00-9:00 on TEAMS to go over any questions that you may have. If you need to talk to me outside of that time, just email me or send me a message on TEAMS.
Did you check out the Science investigation I posted in the "Just for Fun" section of this website? If you did not check it out yet, go check it out before watching the video to the right. If you didn't do the investigation and you want to see what happened or if you already did it and want to see if we got the same results watch the video. |

Good morning everyone. We are halfway through the week. You should be done with your science and social studies assignments for the week if you are following things in order. If you have any questions please let me know. If you haven't already, check out the "Just For Fun" tab here on the website. Tuesday, May 12, 2020 Good morning! This week in math you are working with geometry and angles. Today's (Tuesday) lesson in lesson 15-1 in your math textbook. The title of your lesson for today is "Lines, Rays and Angles". To the right of today's update you will see that I put a graphic from our math book to help you with the lesson. Remember that you can login to your math textbook through Vportal - right in the same section as you logged into SuccessMaker when we were in school. The online math textbook can provide you with more resources and more practice problems if you would like. Click the link below for a short video showing you how to access your math book online if you do not already know how to do it.

Monday, May 11, 2020 (part 2 - updated 11:35 am)
Hey guys - I know that I have already posted but I wanted to just touch base with all of you. I miss each and every one of you so much! I hope that you are doing well. We had a mix of weather this week but that is okay. I hope that you were able to get outside and enjoy the weather. I went peach and sunflower picking this weekend and had a very nice Mother's Day with my children. My bucket was definitely filled and I did some bucket filling myself. What did you do this weekend? Did you get your bucket filled? What did you do to fill others' buckets? I miss going to school and seeing all of your smiling faces, however I know that we will get to see each other soon enough. I hope that you will pop by to visit me next year. Please let me know if you need anything as you complete your work online or in your packet. You can even just message me or video chat with me just to say hello. I know it is really hard some days to sit down and do your work, especially when there are distractions or other things that you would rather be doing. Believe me, I would love to be baking, watching Netflix, playing a game with my kids or countless other things but I need to sit down and focus on my work and they have to do theirs as well. Summer is almost here, we only have three more weeks of this. You CAN do it, I believe in you. Have a great day! Love, Ms. Zacharko
Monday, May 11, 2020 (updated 8:10 am)
I hope that you had a nice weekend. This morning I will be entering grades and attendance from last week. If there is an assignment that you did not do last week or you would still like to retake something, you will need to let me know when you are done, otherwise I do NOT got back and look at the work or grades anymore after entering the grades this morning. Please make sure that you are logging in to FOCUS through Vportal to check your grades. Le me know if you have any questions. Please make sure in addition to checking the daily update here, that you also check the whole class message board in TEAMS and your individual message board in TEAMS.
Friday, May 8, 2020 (updated 9:55am) Good morning everyone and happy Friday! I hope that you are all doing well. You are doing great with your Canvas assignments, make sure that you get all of them done for the week. I am in the process of seeing who still has assignments left to complete for the week and will post a note to your TEAMS page if you owe anything, Remember that if you did not do well you can retake an assignment. You have until Sunday evening to finish work and complete any retakes before I post grades on Monday morning between 9:00 and 10:00am. If you complete an assignment or retake after Sunday evening, you will need to let me know because I will not be going back into Canvas to check out previous grades.
TODAY is the last day to take RC tests for this school year. You have until midnight to earn points. Will you reach your goal for the year? This is completely optional but we just wanted to let you know. I have a few things that I am posting to the "Just for Fun" section of this website. Go check it out, I will be adding more things next week as well. Have any suggestions for the page? Let me know. I would love to hear your ideas. Sunday is Mother's Day! What are some nice things that you are going to do to fill the buckets of the special women (family, friends, neighbors) in your life? I know that things are kind of limited with the Corona Virus - be creative. I would love to hear what you do. Have a great weekend! Love, Ms. Zacharko |

Yesterday I watched the BrianPOP question and answer session with the gentleman that is the voice of Moby. I recorded part of it and it can be found on our TEAMS page, be patient as it may take a minute or two to load the video. I put a Disney virtual field trip on the "Just for Fun section. It is a really fun thing to check out, it is almost like you are there riding the rides, enjoying the fireworks, walking down Main Street. Check it out.
Make sure you reach out to me if you are having trouble with anything that you are working on - Canvas assignments or iReady. All assignments and retakes on any of the Canvas work should be done tomorrow but you have until Sunday evening at the latest.
Paper packet people, you need to make sure that you are touching base with me so I can go over your work with you.

You are half way through the week! Let's finish strong. Make sure that you get all of your assignments in Canvas done and your iReady Reading and Math (45 minutes each). Remember that you can retake assignments to get a better grade. Have questions? Send me a message on your individual section of our TEAMS page, email, or call me. You can also join me between 8:00am-9:00am to ask questions, say a quick hello or get some help. This is not a mandatory session, it is just to give help if it is needed. Watch a special reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance with some guest Read-Pattillo Rockets (video is posted below).
I know that some of you may have had a difficult time with the area and perimeter math lesson yesterday, remember that you can join me during the morning live time to go over this material. You can also email me or send me a message in TEAMS. Question #9 in the practice buddy part of the lesson was a rough question. Feel free to try that question or you may skip it, there will not be a question that is that difficult on your graded assignment for the week.
Today at 2:00 pm I will go live on our TEAMS page to share with you a webinar with the voice of Tim in all of the BrainPOP videos we have watched. They will have a question and answer session. Feel free to join me, you can stay as long as you want. This activity is OPTIONAL!

Tuesday, May 5, 2020 Today's math lesson is on area and perimeter. The picture to the right is from your math book with a quick explanation of area and perimeter. Remember that you use area when trying to find out the space that it covers and perimeter for the distance around something. Remember to reach out and ask for help if you are struggling or need something explained. It is also important that you complete your weekly 45 minutes of math and 45 minutes of reading for iReady.

Monday, May 4, 2020 (updated 12:00 pm). Welcome to the new week. For all of you Star Wars fans - May the Fourth Be With You. You have all been working very hard and I am so proud of you. Make sure that you are completing all of your weekly assignments and iReady. Today is the last day to earn points for the RC challenge. Friday is the absolute last day to take RC tests for this school year. Make sure you are completing your assignments for PE, Art and Music. Mrs. Fernandez put a helpful video in your Art Canvas to help you. Remember you can reach out to me by sending a message in TEAMS, call me in TEAMS, or send me an email. I am here to help you however I can. Just a reminder that Mother's Day is coming up on Sunday, what are you going to do to fill your mom's, grandma's, aunt's (or any other special woman in your life) bucket?
This week in math you are solving problems involving area and perimeter (Tuesday) and patterns (Thursday). In Science you are continuing to study the flow of energy in an ecosystem. You will be learning about food chains and food webs. Don't forget to check out Mrs. Rahaim's Nature Series video (episode 2) located on the science tab website. Make sure you take advantage of the opportunity to resubmit an assignment if you do not do well. Not sure how to redo the assignment? Watch the video for retakes on the "How to Videos" section of our class website. A helpful outline for your weekly assignments is listed to the right for your reference. |
Friday, May 1, 2020 Happy Friday and first day of May! I hope that you are all doing well. Well, it is Friday and I have seen a lot of hard work in iReady and your Canvas assignments. Keep up all of the great work! I have heard about some of the art projects you are doing for Mrs. Fernandez and would love to see the things that you come up with. Please email me photos or send them on TEAMS if you want to share them with me. Brody shared his color wheel with me the other day and now I want to make one. I have a huge to do list today with things I want to record and post on here for you. I am working on a read short read aloud, a video of a fun challenge, a science activity, and a 4th grade photo of Ms. Zacharko. I feel awful as well. I forgot to post the link for this week's episode of Mrs. Rahaim's nature series. Please click the link below or visit the science section of this website to see all of the episodes (currently the trailer and 2 episodes).
Make sure you are reading all messages to the whole class on TEAMS and your individual section of our class page in TEAMS for messages from me. Have an AMAZING day! Love, Ms. Zacharko |
Do you see this meme on your individual TEAMS page? You may have one or more assignments that you have not completed this week. Make sure to get all of your work finished.

It is almost the end of the week, let's finish strong. Remember that you can do an assignment over if you do not do well on it. Mrs. Fernandez reached out to me and said that some of you have not been submitting your art assignments and she wanted me to check in and remind you. I know that you have a lot going on but the assignments that she is giving seem pretty cool. I would love for you guys to share them by email or on TEAMS. Brody told me this morning about the color wheel assignment, I want to make one now too.
Remember to reach out to me if you are having a hard time with any of the assignments. Grades for this week will be entered into gradebook on Monday morning. Have a great day! Love, Ms. Zacharko |

It looks like there are some issues with the Practice Buddy portion of your Math lesson. It has been reported to me that sometimes an answer is being marked wrong when you actually did it correctly. If that is happening to you please let me know or even reach out to me if you don't understand why you are getting something wrong. Make sure that you are using the reference paper/sheet for help if you need it.
Please make sure that you are checking your gradebook - I am NOT talking about the Canvas grades. If you have an M in any assignment - it means that I do not have a grade for you. If you have made corrections to something from last week or done something that you did not do, you need to message me in TEAMS or send me an email because I only update on Monday mornings. I will NOT check previous week's work once I have entered it in on Mondays unless you contact me and ask me to do so.
Please make sure that you are completing your 45 minutes of iReady Math and 45 minutes of Reading per week. Last week only 8 out 21 people completed their 45 minutes (or more) of Math and 8 out of 21 people completed their 45 minutes or more of Math. I know that last week was a different set-up so I know that this week will be better!
I have a bunch of things that I will be adding here today so check back! Have a great day. LOVE, Ms. Z

Good morning! I was at school yesterday to pack up our classroom. I cleaned out your desks and supply containers and packed them in plastic bags with your name written on them. I will keep you updated as to when you will be able to pick up your items, until then they are safe in our classroom. If you had library books in your desk, I have already collected them and returned them to the front office. Mrs. Anderson will get those books and check them back in. If you have books from the library at home, just put them in a safe spot and when you can swing by to pick things up you will be able to drop them off.
Grades from last week's assignments have been posted to your gradebook. Remember that all assignments from each week should be completed no later than Sunday evening and grades will be entered into the gradebook on Monday mornings. If you do not do well on an assignment you may resubmit it as many times as you like before Sunday evening. PLEASE make sure that you get all of your assignments done each week. While you will be able to still access the previous week's assignments and make corrections to them, I will not be looking at those previous weeks' assignments and grades unless you send me an email or message in TEAMS to let me know that you have completed something or made corrections. If you need help or have any questions, remember that I am online in TEAMS EVERY morning from 8:00am-9:00am. If you have any questions outside of that time you can send me a message in TEAMS or try to call me. If I am unavailable to talk at that time, I will call you back.
Please give your best on your iReady Reading and Math lessons. I continue to check your progress each day and if we need to go over things together, I will send you a message on TEAMs and email your parents to set a time to video chat in TEAMS. If you are having difficulty you can contact me and ask me to go over things with you too.
If you are working on paper packets, you need to make sure that you are contacting me by email or phone/video chat so we can go over your answers. This way I can give you feedback right away and help you make corrections for an improved grade, if necessary. You need to stay in touch as it goes towards your attendance. Please try to complete weekly iReady time of 45 minutes of Math and 45 minutes of Reading if possible.

I hope that you had a relaxing weekend. Your schedule of assignments for this week is the same as last week. I have put a schedule below to help you keep on track. There are some of you that still have assignments not finished from last week. You should make sure to get those done before this evening by 7:00 pm as they will be removed tonight. Please let me know if you need any help or have any questions on them.
I will not be online today because I will be at school packing up our classroom so it can be cleaned and prepared for the fall. You may leave me a message on TEAMS or send me an email and I will get back to you this afternoon. I will keep you updated on when you will be able to stop over to the school to pick up your personal items. Please do NOT come up to get stuff until you are notified.
I will enter the grades from last week and attendance later today. The scores that you got on the assignments in Canvas are the ones that will be entered for your grade.
Have a good day. Love, Ms. Zacharko

I hope the plants are thirsty outside today because we are definitely getting the rain. I want to remind you that you should be finishing all of your assignments for the week if you have not done so. The only work that is scheduled for today is iReady Reading and Math and to complete any work from the week that you have not already done. Please reach out to me today if you are having any difficulty, I will not be on my computer over the weekend. All of the assignments from this week will be taken down Monday night so make sure that you get all of this week's work done before then.
An email will be going out today to parents if you have assignments that are not completed or you have things that can be redone for a better grade. I will also give information about Night of the Arts, yearbooks, class picture delivery, grading, attendance, etc in my weekly update to your parents. Make sure you check you individual messages on your TEAMS page (your page, not the group page) as I may be sending you a message later today.
Have a great day and weekend.

Thursday, April 23, 2020 (PART 2)
I just wanted to provide you some resources as you are completing your Math lessons and assignment for the week. Please make sure to reach out to me if you need help. Remember that your assignments are due tomorrow and that you can redo an assignment for a better score if you did not do well. I will enter grades for this week into the gradebook on Monday morning.
Thursday, April 23, 2020
Just checking in with everyone. I know that this week has been a little different with the online learning. I also know that the math may be a little frustrating. Please make sure that you are watching the videos and doing the practice problems. I see a lot of assignments not done. Please complete all of your work. I will not post grades in gradebook for this week until Monday. This will allow you the weekend to finish any of your work and to redo any assignments that you may have done poorly on. Remember that you should make use of the reference sheet that is below on the Wednesday update to help you with your math assignment and you can also go into Vportal and access your math book in addition to the video in your weekly math lesson. I will make a video for how to access your math book and post that to the "How to Videos" section of this website.
Remember that I am online from 8:00am-9:00am every morning for question and answer sessions about the material that you are learning. Tomorrow I will be back on and especially helping out with the math.

Wednesday, April 22, 2020 (PART 2) Huge shout out to Elijah this morning for helping me trouble shoot the issue with the math videos online in your weekly assignments and lessons. If you are on a laptop or desktop, it does not seem to be an issue, HOWEVER YOU MUST BE IN CHROME FOR THE INTERNET. If you are on an iPad you need to take the following steps:
1) Go to Vportal 2) Click on Pearson Easy Bridge in the Digital Learning folder (like you are going to do SuccessMaker) 3) Click on the Pearson Realize button 4) If you have not been in here before you will be asked to choose your background photo. After you do this, keep scrolling down and then you will be able to enter your textbook online. 5) Do NOT close this window, just press your home button. 6) Now go into Canvas, our homeroom class, then your math video lesson and it should play without any problem. ** You now also know how to access your math book online for reference, extra practice, etc. I was also having issues with students trying to share their screen with me when in a mini-lesson or trouble shooting issues you might be having. Thanks to Elijah, we figured it out and this is also how we worked through and solved the technology issue! ELIJAH WAS DEFINITELY OUR SUPERHERO TODAY!!! |

I am aware that some of you are having issues with the math content, especially if you are on an iPad. If you are on a laptop it seems not to be a problem. I am in the process of trying to fix it. This is an issue in all of Volusia County, not just our class. I should have it fixed by 8:45 am and will post another update. Thank you for all of your hard work and being patient.

Today starts the new Reading Counts Challenge. I will post more information about it in the Reading and RC section of this website. Don't forget that you can listen to Mrs. Anderson read the book EngiNerds in TEAMS. It is a 6 part read aloud and the book is worth 8 points. I have posted the links to the read alouds in our TEAMS page.
Overall it looks like a great first day on Canvas completing the science assignment. Remember that if you do not do well on an assignment you can retake it. I will put your scores into gradebook at the end of the week for each of your assignments. If you have a question you can always reach out to me on TEAMS by message or email me. You can also pop in to the live question and answer sessions that I hope every single morning between 8:00am and 9:00 am.
Make sure that you are working on your PE, Music, and Art assignments. Contact me with any questions or email Coach, Mrs. Fernandez, and Mrs. Jones.
I will be sending out a very important email to your parents about changing your password and yearbooks today. I hope that you all have a fabulous day. I miss you all terribly. Get outside and enjoy that sunlight and get some exercise! Check your yards for things we are learning about in Science connected to plants and animals.

Good morning. I hope that you are all doing well. I heard that Canvas was having some issues today, please do not stress if you are having a hard time getting in. The district is working on fixing the issue. My daughter and I were able to get in without any problems so it may have already been fixed. Remember that in Canvas you now have a Reading and Math assignments in addition to your Science and Social Studies assignments. Your iReady time has been reduced from 30 minutes each day for each subject to a total of 45 minutes of Reading and 45 minutes of Math per week. Remember that each day I am doing a live chat on TEAMS for the different subject areas if you have a question.
I have posted links in the science tab to the nature series "Homebound: A Nature Series" that Mrs. Rahaim has created to connect with the science that we are learning. It is a great show and she is teaching us a lot using her backyard and the bees that she raises. Just have to go to the science tab here and then click on the buttons to be taken to the video link.
I am in the process of creating a schedule for the week to share with you on here to help you with outlining your week of learning. You are always welcome to adjust the week as you need to as long as you turn your assignments in each week.
Yearbooks are available for sale, there are a limited amount available. Order yours soon to make sure you get one! 🚀😎

Lastly, I am only an email or in TEAMS a video call/audio call/message away if you need me. Have a great day.
Love, Ms. Zacharko

Friday, April 17, 2020 (PART 2)
If you haven't already read the daily update from earlier today, make sure you read below. I just wanted to let you know that I will be posting some things in TEAMS this weekend. PLEASE make sure you check if I have left you a message on TEAMS for setting up a mini lesson to review your iReady math or reading. Not sure how to access TEAMS? Check out the "How to Videos section of this website. Mrs. Rahaim has released the first episode of the Homebound Nature series that she has created to connect with you and help bring to life what we are learning about in science. I will be posting the trailer and the first episode on the science section of this website. I sent a very informative weekly update to your parent's email earlier today, make sure that they got the email.
Friday, April 17, 2020 Another week has come to an end, great work everyone. Monday we begin the new phase of our virtual/distance learning. I will be putting a part 2 daily update on here later today, so please stop back and see it. Fill out the poll to the right. Next week things will look a little different and hopefully easier. I have already set up the class in Canvas that you will be using, you will no longer use the general Volusia County Fourth Grade Group. You will instead use the group that is just for our class. You will click on the Zacharko Homeroom tile in Canvas (STARTING MONDAY). The exciting change is that you no longer have to download the assignment and then upload it to share with me or send it to me in an email. Everything will be done right in Canvas. We will still use Teams to communicate (video calls, messaging, and more) and of course we will still use this class website for so many things.
I hope that you have an amazing day and just remember to take a deep breath, everything will be ok. I miss every single one of your smiling faces and I am thinking about you. |

Good morning! You are all doing a great job. I have seen some things that people are having difficulty with, and am working on setting up calls with you to touch base and go over things. I am in the process of getting work ready for next week. You will have your work in Canvas, there will be assignments for Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. You will only have to do 15 minutes a day of each iReady Math and iReady Reading. Canvas assignments should be easier to submit now, hopefully. I need you to let me know if there are issues so I can help solve them. In addition to checking in on you I will also have open time each day on Teams where I will discuss a particular subject area. You will be able to join in and go over that assignment and ask questions.
Wednesday, April 15, 2020
Good morning everyone! I am sorry for the delay in posting the daily update. I hope that all of you had a great day yesterday. PLEASE remember that I am here for you if you need any kind of help or just want to say hello. How you do your online assignments will be changing slightly and I will keep you updated every step of the way. This week you can still do your Social Studies and Science assignments in Teams or Canvas, however in Teams I have modified the assignments to provide more support and adjust it. The Social Studies assignment that I adjusted and put into Teams does not have the KWL chart to complete that you have to do in Canvas. For the Science assignment that I posted in Teams I gave you an additional resource on inherited and learned behaviors. If you need more assistance on how to get into Teams, submit assignments, etc. - go to the "How to Videos" section here on our website.
Tuesday, April 14, 2020
Remember that this week you are continuing your work like you have been - 30 minutes a day of each Reading and Math iReady, a Social Studies assignment and a Science assignment. I know that some of you are still submitting the work through Canvas and that is ok, however I need you to understand that the assignments that are posted in Teams have been changed slightly to be more helpful. The Social Studies assignment in Teams does not require you to do the KWL chart. For the Science assignment I also provided you with an additional resource to practice and review inherited and learned behaviors of animals.
On our Teams page I will be posting a link to a read aloud that Mrs. Anderson will be doing. The book is a Sunshine Reader and is 8 RC points. I have heard it is a great book and I can't wait to tune in and hear it.
Remember that I am just a phone call, email, or message away in your channels on our Teams page. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you are struggling. I will check in on each of you to see how things are going, especially if I see you are having difficulty with iReady or your Science and Social Studies assignments.
Mrs. Rahaim has an amazing garden and raises bees at her home. She has been working with the 4th grade teachers to create an at home nature series to support what we are learning in science. Click on the button below to see a preview for this series.

Welcome to week 3 of digital/distance learning. I hope that you had a nice weekend and took some time for yourself and relaxed with your family. It is very important that you check these updates everyday for information and updates that I will share with you. We will be using Teams to submit assignments, phone calls, small group or large group instruction and more. If you get frustrated, just remember to take a deep breath and know that I am here for you. Take a break when you work, especially when you are frustrated. Have a great day.
Friday, April 10, 2020
Good morning! It's Friday and you are just about finished with your second week of distance/virtual learning. I miss every single one of you and hope that you can join us today on Teams at 2:00 pm for a little "Fun Friday"!
I have added a lot of things to our website. What is new? There is a science section, a "how to" videos section, a just for fun section, and a virtual field trip to St. Augustine. Lots of stuff to check out! The website is changing every single day so be sure to check it out every day.
I hope that you are not feeling overwhelmed, but if you are take a moment and remind yourself that you are awesome! I know that the last two weeks have been crazy and there may be lots of things you have questions on. If you have any questions remember that I am only a phone call, video call, message (on Teams), or an email away. I am here for you, don't forget that.
I am checking your iReady every day to see how you are doing and if you are struggling with anything. If you failed a lesson, you are given another view of that lesson. If you fail it again I will be reaching out to set up a time that we can talk on the phone or do a video meeting. This is just a way for me to help you understand what you are learning/reviewing. You can always reach out to me first if you are struggling and want some support or me to go over things with you. I will keep saying it over and over until it sticks - I AM HERE FOR YOU!
I am in the process of looking over the Science and Social Studies work that you turn in online. If I have any questions about your work, I will reach out to you. If you are completing your work in the packet, you can send me a photo of it in an email or you can wait until we send out instructions on how to turn those packets in.
Have a great day and I hope to see you for Fun Friday this afternoon.

Good afternoon everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope that you are all doing well. Remember to get on here daily to see what is going on. You also should check in to Teams daily to check in with me, call me, send me a message, and/or ask a question. If you have a general question, the main page of Teams is the perfect place to ask, however, if you have a question about something that is only about you make sure to click on your name in the left hand side, it should have a lock next to it. That is your personal channel with me that you can ask questions that have to do with you specifically.
I have gotten feedback that you would like to be able to have a group chat, activity, or maybe even play a game. I was thinking that maybe Friday afternoons would be a great time for us to have a group activity together for those that want to join in. I am in the process of making a few videos to introduce you to our website and to help you with Teams. I will share those video links in an email to you, your parents, on the main page/channel of our class Teams as well as putting them here on the website. There are always more things to learn and we are doing that one day at a time!
Starting this week, you only had one assignment per week for Social Studies and Science. We are learning about plants and animals. I added a science page to our website and have put some links on there to check out.
Make sure that you are checking your Art, PE and Music Canvas tiles for assignments from Coach Robertson, Ms. Fernandez, and Ms. Jones.
I miss you all so very much and would love to try a group meeting to say hi and maybe have a little fun with each other tomorrow at 2:00 pm in our class group on Teams. Not sure how to get to this place called Teams? I will post a video here later today. There will also be a tab on this website with links for helpful videos.

Today was a busy day online for everyone. You have all been working hard. Keep up all of the great work. Tomorrow I have a lot of things that I will be adding to our website and sharing. Please make sure to fill out the Dear Future Self survey on yesterday's update.
Tuesday, April 7th, 2020 Happy Tuesday! Remember that despite our circumstances, it can still be a great day. What are you going to do to fill someone's bucket? What did someone do yesterday that filled your bucket? Fill out today's survey on the right hand side. I can't wait to see your thoughts. I am in the process of making videos that I will be posting them here and sending them out in emails. Remember, if you need me to help you or you have questions, or if you even just want to say hi - I am only a message, email, or phone call away. Have an amazing day! Love to all of you!

Welcome to the 2nd week of distance learning. Please make sure that you complete the survey down below on Friday's update. Thank you if you already filled out the survey. The feedback helps me provide more support for you as you are learning at home. Also - please fill out the survey on the right of today's update.
Make sure that you are checking out the information/learning from Ms. Jones in addition to doing your work for me and getting some physical activity. If you are doing your work online (which is most of you), you should be completing at least 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of math EACH day (Monday-Friday) in iReady. Some of the lessons in iReady can run longer than 30 minutes, if you stop after 30 minutes you can pick back up the following day right where you left off. NEW THIS WEEK - you will only have one Social Studies and one Science assignment per week. I have started posting the assignments to Teams so you can see posts, your assignments, feedback on assignments, links, etc. I know it feels like things are constantly changing and it is frustrating. Please bear with us, this is new to us as well and we are trying to make things easier for you and put as much stuff as we can in one central place. Click the button down below to watch the video that goes along with the type of technology you are using to submit your Social Studies and Science assignments. If you are working in the packet you should work for 30 minutes for EACH subject (Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies). Information will come out soon about what to do with your packets. The packets will only take you through 2 weeks of work. Don't forget that the April Reading Counts Challenge ends on April 17th. First and foremost, find something that you enjoy reading. If you are looking for new books, check out the Reading and RC tab here on our website for some great resources to get books. Have a great day and week and remember that I am only a phone call or message away. |

Yay, you made it through the first week of virtual school! I have added more sections to this website for you to explore and use. The Reading and RC tab has information on RC challenges, cool things authors and illustrators are doing, book resources. The read alouds page will have a read aloud for each day (Monday-Friday). The virtual field trips and experiences has some great things you can explore from the comfort of your own home.
Make sure that you are working on iReady every single day for a minimum of 30 minutes in math and 30 minutes in reading. If you are in the middle of a lesson you will be able to finish it the next day. Make sure to work carefully, if I see that you are having difficulty I will reach out to you and go over the material with you. Science and Social Studies is done in Canvas in your Vportal (unless you are doing it in the printed packet you picked up). You can submit it to me as the video in Canvas shows you or if you are having difficulty doing that, you can just email the assignments to me at [email protected]. If you have to do a drawing and are having a hard time, you can just take a photo of your drawing and email it to me. Make sure that you are getting some exercise , there are endless things that you can do to get some physical activity. Have a great weekend and I will check in with you again on Monday. |

It is with great sadness that we will be postponing the Read-Pattillo teacher parade through the neighborhood. We were supposed to do the parade tomorrow, however we have had to postpone it due to the stay home order by Governor DeSantis. We will keep you updated when we do reschedule it. Just know that all of your teachers love and miss you. Please be safe.
Take a look at the other sections of this website and do so often, new things will be added daily. Please don't be overwhelmed and feel like you have to do everything . The things that I put on this site are resources and fun things to do. If you have any questions please contact me.
Check out Dr. Coach's videos that she has posted on her YouTube. channel. I have posted one here but she has a few more on the site. I believe that there are more to come. Remember that you should be doing something every single day for physical activity. Last night at my house we did sit-ups. push-ups, wall sits, and burpees. You better believe that Ms. Zacharko was tired. If you want to see more of Coach's videos just look up P.E.ology, LLC on YouTube or click on the word HERE down below.

Are you having trouble submitting your science or social studies assignments? Check out the video they shared in Day 2 of Canvas and again in Day 3. Still having difficulty? No worries! If you picked up a packet you can do the science and social studies assignments right in the packet and continue to do the iReady math and reading online. Didn't pick up a packet? No problem with that either. Just get a piece of paper and write your answers on the lined paper and you can submit all of those papers when work is turned in to the school. Please email me or call me if you have any questions.
The district has also set up a help desk to guide you in any questions or issues with online instruction and technology issues. The phone number is 386-626-0070. They are open from 8:30 am -3:00 pm Monday-Friday.

EXCITING NEWS . . .This Friday, April 3rd we are hoping to have a parade of Read-Pattillo teachers that will be driving through your neighborhood. We miss all of you and want to spread some cheer while keeping everyone safe. Stay tuned, I will share more information as it comes.
I hope that things went well for you yesterday with your learning. I know that there were some possible issues with the online programs freezing up due to how many people were on those programs. If something is not working, try restarting it or going back to it later. I do NOT want you to stress about any of it. If you have any questions I am only an email or phone call away. I am going to read a story and post it for you to watch. Later this week I would like to try getting online together where we can video chat. We can take a little time to reconnect with each other.
